BackUp / Restore 

BookTrakker Pro Versions 3.4, 3.5, 3.6 & 3.7

Step 1:   Create a Backup Folder

For XP:
1. Right click on My Computer on your desktop, select Explore.
2. Click on Local Disk (C).
3. At the top do File > New > Folder.
4. In the right window, at the bottom you will see New Folder, highlighted, surrounded by white. 
5. Type over New Folder with BT Backup and press enter.
6. You can also Backup to a USB or Flash drive, no folder necessary.

For Vista or Windows 7:
1. Click Start, lower left. Right click on Computer, click Explore.
2. Click on Local Disk (C)
3. At the top do File > New > Folder
4. In the right window, at the bottom you will see New Folder, highlighted, surrounded by white.
5. Type over New Folder with BT Backup and press enter.
6. You can also Backup to a USB or Flash drive, no folder necessary.

For Windows 10:

1. Right Click Start window, lower left. Click File Explorer
 2. Right Click on Local Disk (C) > New > Folder
 3. In the right window, at the bottom you will see New Folder, highlighted, surrounded by white.
 4. Type over New Folder with BT Backup and press enter.
 5. You can also Backup to a USB or Flash drive, no folder necessary

Step 2:    Backup
1. Double-click on Backup BTPro Database icon on your desktop.
2. Compacting database will run, wait for it to finish. 
3. A message will appear asking you to make sure all installations of BookTrakker are closed. Make sure they are and click OK. 
If not click Cancel and close them, then repeat step 1.
4. Set Backup Destination appears. The Temp folder below the C drive should be highlighted.
5. If you want to Backup to a USB or flash drive then click the dropdown button to select the USB drive. Doubleclick on it to open. Click OK. Go to step 9. Otherwise go to step 6 to backup to your local drive. 
6. Double-click on the open yellow C folder. This will display folders under C.
7. You should see BT Backup in the list.
8. Double-click on BT Backup and click OK.
9. Processing files will be the next message, then OK. Click OK and you are done.

Step 3:    Restore
1. Double-click Restore BTPro Database icon on the desktop.
2. Click on Restore All.
3. Click OK.
4. Set Restore File Location will appear.
5. In the right window you will see a list of files. The last file is the newest.
6. Select that, click OK to restore your database.
7. Click OK.
8. If you are recovering from a database error and the newest backup does not work repeat from #1 but at #5 select a previous backup file.
